Space Ape Games today announced that Supercell has acquired 62% of the company for $55.8 million. The deal gives Space Ape a total equity valuation of $90 million.
Jeppe Zink, who led Northzone’s investment in the company since its initial round in 2013 says: “It is great to see another mobile games success come out of London, and my congratulations to the founding team on this impressive achievement. We are pleased that one of the true Nordic heroes, Supercell, is the acquirer. This is very positive news for the future development of the European games ecosystem and we are delighted that Space Ape is staying in the Nordic family. Based on valuation, compared to two of the recent big deals in the space; Innogames sold to MTG, and Socialpoint in Spain, this represents a premium valuation.”
The transaction represents a positive exit for NZVI, a fund which also includes companies such as Trustpilot and iZettle.
