Matt joined Northzone in 2016. His main areas of focus are enterprise software, media, marketplaces and AI, as well as supporting Northzone’s portfolio companies in expanding to the US. He works with companies like Dots and Red Points.
Matt started his career in strategy and operations roles at preeminent adtech and marketing SaaS companies in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. There, he played an integral part in scaling companies internationally, and acquired a penchant for devising sales and marketing strategies. Something that comes in handy when working with Northzone’s portfolio companies looking to take on new markets.
Before his operating roles, Matt spent a few years scaling other kinds of mountains, as a professional snowboarder chasing the best snow and biggest jumps in the U.S. and Argentina.
“My days on a snowboard had some parallels to the company building process. Uncertainty, setbacks, practice (and more practice) leads to improvement, airline miles logged, sponsors pitched, new surprises, and, occasionally, sweet success.”
At Northzone, Matt is focused on enterprise software, media, gaming, and marketplace companies. He is particularly interested in startups applying artificial intelligence to solve difficult problems, and those that possess unique data.
Raised in Colorado in a family of entrepreneurs, Matt has a first class degree from the London School of Economics and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
